High Resolution Focke Wulf Fw 190D-9.

This pack includes the base PCX, TPC and 3DZ files for the HR Fw 190D-9 model. They are supplied for the benefit of all the skinners out there!

3dz model HR'd by Mike1, based on the model by Llv34_DOC, Rampstrike, JWC32 and Claudio Wilches. Wing view based on the one by Col. Gibbon, spinning prop/spinner by Mr J and transparent shadow also by DOC.

This was an interesting model to work with, as the original could not be opened in 3dz studio. This meant I had to indulge in some "Reverse Engineering"!!! I converted the modified *F.3dz file into a text file, using Paulo's text converter. I then converted the original EAW model into a text file as well. I then proceeded on some serious cutting and pasting! Through trial and error, I produced a model which could be opened in studio, whilst retaining as many of the original features as possible. The only omissions are the opening canopy and dropping flaps. After that, I cut the model up into the following parts:

*A.3DZ Left-rear fuselage *AEX.TPC
*B.3DZ Right-rear fuselage *BEX.TPC
*C.3DZ Canopy *TEX.TPC
*E.3DZ Right wing *EEX.TPC
*F.3DZ Forward fuselage *FEX.TPC
*G.3DZ Left wing *GEX.3DZ

Also included are:

*H.3DZ Shadow *TEX.TPC
*L.3DZ Left torn-off wing *MEX.TPC
*M.3DZ Medium distance model *MEX.TPC
*P.3DZ Prop *TEX.TPC
*R.3DZ Right torn-off wing *MEX.TPC
*S.3DZ Long distance model *MEX.TPC

Update:

This pack includes updated *A,*B and *C.3dz files. When I looked at the early canopy version that Captain Kurt did for Steven190, I noticed that Kurt had raised the rear decking behind the canopy. Looking at the blown canopy version I had, I saw that there was too much of a 'kink' between the outline of the canopy and the rear fuselage. I then had looked at the plan I had used for the Hi-Resing, and lo and behold, I'd made a 'Boo-Boo'!! As a result, I modified the *A, *B and *C.3dz files to correct the shape.

Inspired by Kurt, I then made my own version of the early canopy. Looking at photographs, I saw that these canopy's had a slight rise at their forward edge before they flattened out and merged into the fuselage. The altered *C.3dz file incorporates this feature.

For those who want to have an aircraft with a spiral effect spinner, I've included alternative *P.3dz and Tex.PCX/TPC files to make that easier.

Finally, there are also complete airfarme PCX files:

Fullbottom,
Fulltop and
Fullside.

For the folks who have Glide mode Graphics Cards, I've included an alternative *G.3DZ. Dean reported a see-through prob with one element on that wing, so if you have a similar issue, drop this file in.

Thanks to Col. Gibbon for his notes on how to create High-Res models. Thanks also to Alessandro Borges for his 3dz studio and tools, without which this would have been impossible. Plus anyone else who I've forgotten to mention!
